US government ethics reports filings show President Donald Trump's personal investment portfolio conducted more than 3,600 securities transactions in Q1 2026, including trades in crypto, AI, semiconductors and big tech companies.

The portfolio holdings contrast with prior 2025 reports from the Office of Government Ethics (OGE), in which the president invested in more conservative fixed-income securities, including municipal and corporate bonds.

The OGE is an independent executive branch agency established to prevent conflicts of interest and ensure integrity within the federal government.

President Trump's personal wealth is held within a revocable trust, and the thousands of transactions detailed in the disclosure were executed by independent investment managers acting on behalf of the trust.

Crypto and tech feature prominently

The 113-page filing, published on 14 May, disclosed purchases of Bitcoin miner MARA, Coinbase, SoFi Technologies, Robinhood and Block Inc. The filing also showed active trading in Bitcoin treasury leader Strategy.

Additionally, the filing reported transactions in NVIDIA, Broadcom, Apple, Microsoft and Meta Platforms.

Ethics experts and political watchdogs have raised concerns regarding potential conflicts of interest stemming from the Trump family's financial activities and their intersection with government policy. The White House has been driving a pro-crypto agenda, and the Trump family has pivoted its business investments into digital assets, signing multi-billion-dollar deals through associates and affiliated ventures.

Financial sector trades included Bank of America and Goldman Sachs. Boeing, Procter & Gamble and Amazon were among other blue-chip transactions.

Disclosure rules limit visibility

The OGE Form 278-T requires officials to report transactions within pre-defined value brackets, such as $1,001–$15,000 or $5,000,001–$25,000,000, making it nearly impossible to know the exact dollar amount of purchases and sales.

The cumulative value of the trades executed in the portfolio during the first quarter is estimated to be between $220mn and $750mn, according to Reuters. The actual value of the portfolio is difficult to assess due to rapid trades and wide valuation brackets, as the OGE report tracks active movements rather than static balances.

Adding to the obscurity, the OGE disclosure rules for the filing do not require specifying a specific security category, so it is not always clear whether an entry refers to a company's equity or debt securities.
