He will now co-chair the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) alongside senior White House technology advisor Michael Kratsios. The White House announced the move on 25 Mar.
During his short tenure, Sacks oversaw early crypto policy work, including the stablecoin-focused GENIUS Act and efforts on market structure legislation. He championed a deregulatory, pro-innovation stance towards the industry.
Sacks said the new role will let him continue advising the president on AI and a broader range of technology issues. “I think moving forward as co-chair of PCAST, I can now make recommendations on not just AI but an expanded range of technology topics,” he told Bloomberg Television.
The PCAST panel includes prominent tech figures such as Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, Oracle’s Larry Ellison and Andreessen Horowitz co-founder Marc Andreessen.
