Binance, the world’s biggest cryptocurrency exchange, is setting its sights on reaching 3bn users, as it taps AI to increase its efficiencies.
Binance Co-CEO Sets New Target Of 3bn Users, Tapping AI Efficiencies
Co-CEO Yi He made the comments at the Web3 Festival in Hong Kong, saying, "We should aim for 3bn users and not just 1bn," noting that the exchange has already achieved a 300mn user base. She said the adoption target was a "long-term direction."
The 1bn user target has been the long-standing benchmark for mass adoption established by Binance's leadership.
Speaking to the fourth edition of the conference, He said that using Agentic AI would help it achieve a tenfold improvement in employee productivity, adding that the company, whom she founded with Changpeng Zhao in 2017 was "evolving into the global financial infrastructure layer" beyond its exchange roots.
The Binance Co-CEO also said that the exchange, which processed approximately $34tn in 2025 trading volume, would not be following other tech companies in doing layoffs due to efficiencies.
She was appointed as Co-CEO with Richard Teng in December 2025. Teng succeeded Zhao, who is known by his initials CZ, in late 2023 as part of a settlement with US authorities where the exchange pleaded guilty to violating anti-money laundering, know-your-customer and sanctions laws, agreeing to pay $4.3bn in penalties.
Zhao also pleaded guilty to failing to implement proper oversight and later served a four-month prison sentence before receiving a presidential pardon in 2025. As part of the settlement, Binance agreed to enhance compliance measures and government-imposed monitoring.
