We are seeking an experienced Asia-Pacific News & Markets Correspondent, who will report directly to the East Asia Editor or Americas News Editor, and help shape our editorial output in the crypto space.
You will produce fresh, innovative content around cryptocurrency market and technology developments, including coverage of onchain and offchain market developments. Working alongside our analysts and editors, you will generate news articles in English about Bitcoin, major altcoins and other tokens, focusing on explaining why assets are moving and breaking news that has market impact. Stories will incorporate a variety of perspectives, including insights from a macroeconomic lens when relevant.
You will blend short news briefs with occasional in-depth features that broaden readers’ understanding of the crypto universe and its global context and may contribute to opinion and analysis pieces.
Sandmark is an ideal platform for candidates aspiring to be among the most followed and respected crypto market reporters. You must possess a healthy scepticism of industry narratives and be comfortable applying a 'critical lens' to project founders, venture capital 'pump' cycles, and regulatory gatekeeping to fit with Sandmark's high standards. The role has a geographical base (perhaps in Australasia) although the successful candidate will be able to develop regional or topic beat specialisms through this role.
The role requires autonomous source cultivation as well as covering certain industry events, political and regulatory factors that affect crypto markets and insights from a macroeconomic lens when relevant. Candidates seeking to generate copy from the desk without interacting with human sources should not apply.
